Winter visitor and scarce passage migrant; status of this subspecies is not well known. Other Bluethroat subspecies such as Caucasian Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica magna) which is lumped with this subspecies, also pass through Kuwait.
Where in Kuwait
This sub-species occurs far less frequently than the nominate Red-spotted, but it was recorded as recently as 2013 at Jahra Pools Reserve in the company of Red-spotted Bluethroats
In the world
It has a large range with a stable population. Some races, such as L. svecica svecica (Red-spotted Bluethroat) of northern Eurasia, have a red spot in the centre of the blue bib.
Others, such as L. svecica cyanecula (White-spotted Bluethroat) of southern and central Europe, have a white spot in the centre of the blue bib. L. svecica magna in Turkey has no central spot.
